Keeping motivated through Surgery!

I've had an ample bosom my entire adult life.
I've always wanted a reduction, but wouldn't consider it until I finished breast feeding, I mean that's what I have them for, right?
So my youngest is 13 months now, and I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow!

Yes, I'm terrified!!!
When you've had looks your entire life at a certain feature, then suddenly it changes, it makes you fearful of your outward identity...

Anyways, I'm just hoping for some support through the recovery. I've been working out everyday since April 4th for 45 minutes on the treadmill (save 4 days).
I'm scared I'll get out of the rhythm?
I'm loving how I'm feeling, and regretting having to interrupt the momentum, but I'm praying this is another change towards a more positive body image and healthier physique!
Any comments are appreciated!

You will be fine:flowerforyou: . Take time and recover from your surgery. The treadmill will be there when you have recovered. Love on you kids and take it easy:heart: . When you feel up to it, take small strolls outside.
    Eat right and relax.
    Everything will be fine.
    Good luck tomorrow.

Everyone I know who has had this surgery is always so happy afterwards. I know recovery is not a piece of cake, but think about how much fun it will be to buy yourself a new sports bra to hit the gym with! And after sitting on the couch for a few days, I'm sure you'll be itching to get back into it.

Best of luck! Here's to a speedy recovery!:flowerforyou:

Thanks you two for your kind words and encouragement!:flowerforyou:
I'm craving getting back to my workout, but still healing - trying to be patient.

I've been able to remain under my caloric limit, which I'm pleased about, although a good bout of post surgical nausea has been helpful! LOL

I'm down 11 pounds total so far since I started here, and am still feeling the momentum for wellness, even though I'm forced into being sedentery.

I'm pretty pleased so far with the results, terrified about getting the stitches out tomorrow though!:noway:

I am proud of myself so far!
  • I too was motivated by my surgery, although I did the opposite of you...I got boobs. I had them done 5 weeks ago and have just now been able to go back to the gym. I am happy to say that during my recovery time I only managed to gain back 2 of the 20 pounds that I had lost. I really believe that without this site holding me accountable for everything that I put into my mouth it would have been a lot worse. Hang in there and don't push yourself until you are ready.

Meriller...hang in there. How did it go getting the stitches out?

The other poster is right -- everything will be there when you get back and you are ready to work out. Just focus on relaxing and recovering the right way, and eating good healthy foods to help your body recover from the "trauma" of surgery.

I had a back surgery that left me immobile for three months. I thought I would die not being able to work out but slowly, steadily, I came back. One day at a time!

Thanks again for your words of encouragement! :flowerforyou:

I had all but 2 stitches removed, and it went ok, a bit stingy - but uneventful, which is always the way you want it right??? They said things are healing well, and I'm feeling completely renewed! It's so liberating...

Being a member of the MFP community has been SO helpful to me; you're right, it keeps you honest and accountable to yourself, which is the way it should be, while providing the support of the message boards through others in the same healthy lifestyle.

I'm loving it! All the best to you all!!!
