CALORIES!?!

My calorie intake per day was set to 1400 but i don't know if i'm going to lose weight successfully with this many calories, i dont want to eat 1200 calories because i think that my body will go into starvation mode and if i want to eat more calories once i'm happy with my weight i will put on all the weight i have lost. I just don't know how many calories to eat, i'm 5'2 and 134 pounds, i don't do any hardcore exercise i just walk about a mile or 2 everyday, how many calories should i be eating to lose 20 pounds and maintain this weight loss??
