Another MFP (in progress) success story

At my heaviest, around the age of 15, I weighed an astonishing 285 pounds. I was probably 6'-6'1" with a body fat percentage I can only estimate now at a solid 94%. I don't think I carried a lot on my eyes and teeth. Of course, as a male, I felt little to no negativity about my physique. That was around 2007. My weight fluctuated, went down to 225ish with a high body fat percentage, and shortly after went back up.

God, I wish I knew about my fitness pal seven years ago.

December 2013, now 6'2", it was time for a permanent change; it was time for a change in weight, nutrition, and foremost, lifestyle. I weighed an even 250 pounds. I downloaded the iPhone ap, and immediately tracked everything (seriously) I ate. The biggest turning point for me in this new era was when a particularly good movie came on, and I began snacking without counting.

Later, I counted exactly how much I had eaten. I was astonished. +/- 800 calories, and I wasn't full. I thought a few chips wouldn't hurt, maybe a little chocolate. Hell, I think I even had a cola. Of course, this was an isolated incident and has not happened since. I counted everything, began C25K, an awesome program I highly recommend though I realize one post from a new member does not carry much merit.

A week ago, 25 March, I weighed in at 215 pounds, around 27% body fat. That's 35 pounds in near as makes no difference 90 days; that's EIGHTY pounds from my heaviest. I realize people have better success stories. I realize I have another 25 pounds to go. My fitness pal literally changed my life for the better, in an immeasurably large amount. I'm kicking myself for not taking before pictures.

I just wanted to share. This is truly a brilliant community with a brilliant ap and I know it's changed more lives than mine. English is not my first language, Polish is. I apologize for grammatical errors. If anyone wants to add me for whatever reason, please feel free.

Best of luck to all of you! and thank you my fitness pal!

Congrats!! I agree with how simply logging your food can be life changing. I always give myself the benefit of the doubt and assume I haven't really eaten that much. Now that I have to account for everything I consume, man is it eye opening! Hopefully I'll never return to mindless eating again.
