Who wants to help me over the plateau?

I’m down 17 pounds and I’m very happy that I’ve lost that much. But here lately, I’ve seen the weight loss really slow down.
On the 15th of March, I hit 225, and since then, I’ve only lost about 1.5. I was really hoping to be below 220 by April (just for that psychological reward), but unfortunately it didn’t happen and now I’m getting frustrated.
I read through the forums almost every day on here, and doing the calculators, I should be close to 2000 calories a day. But I honestly, I’m pretty confused by how much I should be eating. I saw the best weight loss when I was eating about 1700 a day.
My other concern is how much my sodium and fat may be playing a role in my weight loss plateau. I’m hitting below calories normally, but sometimes the fat and sodium can be up there. I also know that some of my slow-down is water weight, but at some point, shouldn’t that start disappearing as well?
Anyway, long story short, I just need some motivation or someone who has gone through the same thing, to give me a little advice to get over this hump. I’m not giving up, but I would really like to get rid of these man boobs sooner than later. Thanks to all!

I plateaued very early as well....the scale actually started going up for me when I first started...I was so upset I wanted to quit because I just couldn't understand it but I kept with it and here I am 8 months later 50 pounds lighter....I lost a great deal in the beginning because I think I had been holding on to some water weight and had a dramatic drop...
Just recently I have stalled again because I was very sick in January and dropped 8 lbs in a week...I knew I would gain it back I just didn't know when...so now my body is readjusting from being so sick...so I just keep telling myself I can do it and slow and steady is the way to to! I also used to go to the gym every weekend at least and couldn't for the past six weeks due to a knee injury so I think my metabolism took a hit because I was so active and now I'm not...
So what I am doing now is tweeting my routine to see what works.....if I feel like I ate a lot of sodium I drink tons of water to flush it to make sure I'm not holding a lot of water weight...and just recently I have vowed to walk at least a half hour every day when I get out of work until I can get back to the gym....also make sure that you are underestimating calories you burn exercising and overestimate what you eat....many of us want to see quick results but it pays off to be accurate
You have done a great job so far, keep it up!0 -
OP your diary doesn't appear that you weigh your food.
If that is the case chances are you are eating more than you think.
As well a 1.5lb lost over 2 weeks is pretty good. With just over 25lbs to lose 1/2lb a week is what you should be aiming for.
As well as a man you should be eating more than me.0 -
Weigh and measure all your food properly and find out how much you are actually eating. Then you have a proper base level to work from. A 'Piece' is not a measurement0

No such thing as a plateau. You just arent eating at a calorie deficit.
The reason you lost weight 'better' at 1,700 but not 2,000 - seems like you were overestimating calories and probably eating around 2,000 before and then 2,300 now.0 -
if you've lost 1.5lb in 2 weeks then you are still losing weight... its not a plateau, you just have unrealistic expectations!0
