Rice or naan bread?

Hi all

A question if you don't mind.

As you may have guessed by the thread title, I'm off for a curry on Friday and by manipulating the rest of my day will be able to fit in a main and also a rice/naan bread - any recommendations of which is better nutritionally? I would place my bets on rice and I like both so happy with either but was wondering if anybody had any thoughts of what would be better/less calorific. Unfortunately it's difficult to tell when going out for a meal exactly how many calories are going to be in it but I hope I can guess as accurately as possible.

Thanks!

Do a bit of extra exercise so you can have both, not a proper curry without rice AND naan! :)

Rice is better. Plain or boiled is best. Brown rice if you can get it is better still.

BUT. It's one meal out, eat what you like! Long term consistency is key, everyone has treat days.

1 cup of Pilau rice (the type typically served with curry) is around 650cal. 1 full naan is 380. Some healthier options are roti (wheat bread) or brown rice - but if you want the "good stuff" just eat it in moderation - maybe 1/4 a naan & 1/2c rice?

    Exactly!

You need the rice to hold all the wonderful sauce, and the Naan bread to wipe up the plate. Now I want curry

    Better, how?

If either meets their goals, I'd say do whatever you like better!

both are nutritious and delicious... everything in moderation

    ETA:

By moderation I mean way less than I typically see people eat with their meal. All that naan adds up quickly.

Easy enough to make one at home that fits within the parameteres of weight loss (Tougher when your chef at work decides the staff meal is Butter Chicken with loads of sauce - that stuff is crazy high in fats)
