Hi All, I've actually been on MFP for over a month now, but I've never properly introduced myself. I live in Manchester, UK, but lived in Michigan (lansing) for 15 years before moving back to the UK in 2007. I've, er, inflated a bit since then, and I can't blame the kids, as my youngest is now 4! I've found MFP invaluable as a tool to help me finally crack down and lose weight. 10lbs over this last month. Hooray for me! I've been struggling for a while, but I'm hoping this time I've got the right frame of mind. Earlier this year I ran a 10K (May) and started training in January. Although I lost weight then, I really didn't lose much as I wasn't also monitoring calories. I had the "I'm exercising, pass me the cake!!!!" kind of mentality about it. But now closing in on 40 I realise I needed to do a lot more. Actually weighing myself was the first step (I avoided doing that even for the first 2 weeks of MFP) and then really tracking what I put in my mouth. So far it's really working, and my energy and stamina for exercise has improved so much.

Anyhoo. I am on this site daily, and really appreciate the support everyone gives. The before and after pics are so, so helpful, and I can't wait to post mine one day.

Please feel free to friend me, especially anyone who's got a 'before I'm 40!' goal. I'd love to develop a support community, and really feel like I can commit to it now and not drop off the plan:-)

Good luck! You seem to be doing very well already. I suppose it's a bit late for this, but welcome to the site. :)
