Weight loss plan - help!!

Hey! So I'm finally after a long time of preparing embarking on my weight loss journey. Im a 18 year old girl, 169 cm who weighs 70kg and would like to (ideally!!) weigh 59-60 kg. I was wondering whether I could get some advice on fitness and eating? I am planning to cut out refined carbs.. so bread, pasta, etc. and eat mainly vegetables and fruit. I also plan on having a cheat meal once a week, to keep me sane I was also planning on running 4 times a week for 20 mins (getting started to run with the couch to 5k running plan and after that will up it to 30 mins each time) and the gym until my membership runs out in June when I finish school for the summer. Then in the summer I plan to just run and do yoga, which I will also start sometime soon.
Is this a good plan for weight loss? Because I've heard running isn't an ideal form? How much can I lose in 3-4 months (want to be in shape for the new school year).

I live at boarding school, so I don't cook any of my own food and therefore can't weigh or meal prep… but the food they make is extremely healthy, its 70-90% organic with gluten free and vegetarian options available, they always prepare really nice vegetables and balanced meals, so it shouldn't be a problem so long as I portion control!

How about just eating at a moderate calorie deficit ensuring you consume adequate macro and micro nutrients? There's no need to cut out any groups of foods. And eating "mainly fruits and vegetables" is not a healthy approach to losing weight. You need fats, and protein. Also, running is fine if you enjoy it. If not, find something else you enjoy.0

I just find it easier to reduce my consumption of those.. because I don't find them necessary and also I don't particularly like them anyway! So why eat them ok a lot of fruits and vegetables, would never not eat meat!! yes I love running… much more than the gym, which I sometimes find tedious and 'samey'.

Running is a great cardiovascular exercise. Its known to lower your blood pressure and make your energy levels go up. It's one step at a time though. I don't know your current level of conditioning but try nice and steady. If you can't make it on your first couple of 20 mins runs, just walk a little until you feel like you can pick up the pace again. I would say that the diet change would be good, I am not sure that cutting out carbs completely would be the best idea. If you are use to eating that way, it would be a big habit change all of sudden. If you plan on doing something like, I would suggest doing it gradually. You have a good plan ahead and I hope you keep up the good work! I think you will start losing weight in no time! Stay Active and Positive.0

Yes, I'm starting with the couch to 5k plan.. so I'll, according to the plan, being running 30 mins in a few weeks. It gets my heart rate up, so I guess it's good

Some people find it helps them to not eat so much by cutting out certain foods.
Full-fat cheese is the main and pretty much only one for me.
Rather than a "cheat meal", why not "earn" your food first by doing some extended exercise?
Long distance running is probably out if you're doing c25k, but you could get go for a long walk, a cycle ride or similar.
I cycled to the shops five miles away or so earlier - ended up going the wrong way and well-out, so burnt around 800 calories. Which meant I got to have three quarter pounds when home, as well as two Pain Aux Raisins and some fruit.0 -
I live in Denmark where cycling is pretty much the main form of transport, so I always have the chance to do that whenever! But I live at my school, so it wouldn't really be an every day thing.. I'm still going to incorporate gym for 2 months while doing the couch to 5k running plan, so when it runs out I (touch wood) will be able to run long distance(ish) and then build it up

The last bit is by far the most important bit for losing weight and makes the rest pale into insignificance.
I would suggest using the phone app 'libra' to track your weight - it gives you an averaged figure of the calories you are up/down based on how your weight changes.
It should give a good idea if you need to eat more / less, though appreciate that women's hormonal changes tend to move things around a bit more than for men.0
