New way of handling stress

So I started this road to healthy exactly 12 hours before a big traumatic event struck my family. My old M.O. would have been to curl up in a ball, eat like crap and cry. Now I am walking away the stress and gaining pride from my healthy eating choices. Today was an abnormally stressful day and every fiber of my being wanted to stop at a fast food place and get a giant burger, come home, put on fat pants and give up. Instead I stuck to my meal plan…AND here is the key. Managed to squeeze in 2, 25 minute walks 3 and half hours apart. I actually felt better after each walk. I feel better about myself which is helping with the stress and I know my body and my mind will be better for it.

Well done. It's hard to push ourselves, especially when what we want to do is take the easy, quick route ie eat something satisfying. But we know that satisfaction only lasts a short while, I'm so proud of you for looking beyond that. I also find that walking relieves my stress. It clears the head and makes you think things through, although not always the first thing we think of in times of stress. I can relate to you and admire you. Hang in there. xxx

Good for you! I walk 5-6 times a week and find it to be therapy for my brain as well as healthy for the rest of me. I just let my mind go, daydream, work out problems, whatever. It's definitely a stress reliever. Hope all works out for you.
