Stress!!!!

I never really stopped to think about whether or not I was an emotional eater but maybe I am. I have really been fighting the urge to chow down lately. My mother-in-law has alzheimer's and has been living with us in my tiny house for the last 18 months, my husband got laid off from a job that he's had for 11 years. My 17 year old daughter is being a teenager (and all that emplies) my son has to sleep in the living room when he visits from college because I had to give my mother-in-law his bedroom. I realize he doesn't live there anymore but I always thought I would have a room for him for when he visits. No one tell's you how mean some people with alzheimer's can be and even though I know logically she can't help it, I miss being able to go home and just relax when I need to and I do have resentment about having to give her my son's room. Plus I can't do my exercise stuff in the living room because she's always there. I'll figure it out but this week has been tough! AGGHHHH! I'll stop whinning now.

I want to recommend some form of meditation or calming martial art to help your stress. Something like Tai Chi or Yoga. Helps you stay fit, improves flexibility, known to relieve stress, and overall makes you feel better. Hang in there, I am very familiar with a family member having alzheimer's.0

I understand. Alzheimer's is no fun. It's much easier on the person who has it than the caregiver. As for not being able to work out in the living room... how about taking a walk when someone else is home to take care of her? Get outside! It sounds like you really need the break, and of course the exercise will do wonders. Also, just a suggestion, look into respite care. Even if it's just for a day, it can do wonders. Best of luck!0

Good Suggestions. I'm not home with her all day. I work and I have been taking some walks - I'll keep doing that. It's just that I have some old aerobics tapes I would like to try and see if I can do. I'll start next week trying to get up an hour earlier for work and fitting them in then. I know if I can get through the first 3 or 4 weeks the energy level should move up enough to where I don't have to fight hitting the snooze button : )0
