Is a 5k Better than a Movie?

A 5k and a movie are pretty similar in terms of money (at least, if you eat popcorn at the cinema).

However....
* Movies have better parking
* Movies last for longer
* 5ks provide bagels, bananas and water
* Cool commemorative t-shirt from the 5k

Which is better? You decide!

    See a movie Fri night, run 5k on Sat. Dilemma solved!

    I never heard of a 5k, we do have cinema grills here where you can watch a movie while eating meals and drinking...

    *sarcasm disclaimer* :laugh:

    Five kids hands down, I do not have to bring my children to a 5K.

    There are 5k races where you can get cupcakes at each mile...

    I'd die before I'd make it a mile haha. I am not a runner at all. But the cupcakes sound worth it...

    If that is true...why is this even in question?! Cupcakes always win.

    5k. Food, shirt, better fitness, fun if you like running as much as I do.

    I would do both. But I would suggest not going to a movie the day after you run a half marathon. I did that once. Not my best decision. :laugh:

    Let me see...maybe a decent movie with people talking on cell phones and long lines at the concession stand vs good food, good friends, and happy strangers. 5K hands down...plus I collect the Ts.

    How long did it take you to get out of the seat?

    Ooooh! Funny! We had to drive home 3.5 hours after my last 1/2 marathon, but we stopped every 30 min. to get out of the car and walk around. Still was difficult getting out of the car at the end of the day.

    A 5K is over in 20-25 minutes. Movies for the win!

    Hmmm. Lots of things I like better at 5k's than at the movies. Except the bathroom facilities.

    I've been going to the wrong 5Ks. Never a single cupcake. Ever.

    5Ks run 20-40 dollars. Movies about 14 bucks. If I get up for a movie as early as I do for most of my 5Ks I get matinee prices at the movies.

    I however cannot wait a few months and buy the 5K to have on my home running system. Movies are available on Blu-Ray/DVD fairly quickly these days. I don't get to have a beer after a movie from the calories I burnt sitting on my *kitten* eating crappy popcorn.

    So in summation... San Demus High-school Football Rules!!!

    We have a Donut Dash here where I live. Ends at a very good donut shop. Sadly, most people walk it.

    I think everyone should do one in their life (the 5k) even if its a timed race or something fun like Color Me Rad or Color Run. Its additive though. I have done 5k, 10k, and now 13.1
