Low calorie/ healthy office snacks

So I work sitting down all day at a desk. I work with one woman I think is anorexic, she is so skinny and she never eats. The other, just doesn't care if she gains weight. Believe me she is not a size 2 like she claims! So she buys junk, cheese its, snickers, chocolate covered granola bars. ALL of which I LOVE...

Now when I see it I am instantly hungry and craving her food. I am committed to eating healthy, non-processed foods. How the heck do I keep up with that at work with all the yummy food around me all the time?

I need some ideas for non-processed snacks to have in our shared cubical!

20g of mixed nuts, some satsumas (eat the nuts after the satsumas), cut carrots, cucumber and some humus

Don`t take the packet of nuts to work, you would munch the lot :) and its mega cals then, but there really good for you :)

  • I take a lot of fruit to work with me, most days. Lots of my colleagues bring in cucumber or carrot sticks to dunk in hummus. What about making things like boiled eggs at home and taking them in with you?
Nuts and string cheese are popular in my office.

I know I like lots of picky bits to snack on, so I tend to take a little mixed pot of healthy nibbly things.

I also have shared food at work, mostly unhealthy. I bring my own pre-portioned nuts, since I can't be trusted to grab a handful and leave it at that. There are also 100 calorie packs if you can't be bothered to portion it out yourself. I also will make my own trail mix, blending whatever nuts, seeds, raisins, etc. I find appealing.

I often buy a bag of clemintine oranges (or tangerines). The big bowl of oranges looks cheerful and they make for easy snacking, especially if you are craving something a little sweet.

I keep hummus in the work fridge and bring in things to dip: carrot sticks, celery, etc.

I like natural peanut butter (meaning no added sugar, ingredients are peanuts and salt) or almond butter with celery.

I also eat a lot of plain Greek yogurt at work. If you want to add a mix in, you can do frozen berries, honey, granola, etc.

Sometimes I'll make a few hard boiled eggs and leave them in the fridge for an easy snack that has a quick hit of protein.

Frozen grapes: these are awesome in the summer when you want something refreshing and sweet.

Special K has a really good line of low calorie chips and popcorn chips. I can have about 30 southwestern ranch flavored chips for 100-110 calories. Great for a salty craving.
