How many calories do I need totake in?

I'm 5'10 i weight 320lbs. I'm working on dropping to 240lbs. I go to the gym 4x and do 30min. of cardio and do a full upper and lower body work outs (on separate days) a week and 5x a week I walk 6.5km with my job which burns off 750 Cal. Lately I have been taking in 2500 Cal. with a ratio of 45% carbs, 30% protein and 25% fat (for foods such as avocados and almonds). Thoughts?

Not sure on your age..but a quick calculation based on your activity level you should be consuming 3600 calories,,your percentages are great but you could even go higher on your carbs to 50% because of your activity level. Good luck on your journey :drinker:

With around 100 pounds to lose, you get to play a little looser with the rules for a while. If 2500 is good for you, and you aren't seeing any negative impact from it (loss of concentration, lack of energy, lethargy, hunger, etc) then you're probably okay for a while.

But, if you want to take a look at how to set your goals, this link is full of good info: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets

I based it on if you were 25, just by guessing. If I were you I would start out by eating more...made up of all the good foods you've been eating and your healthy fats. Something to think about when you have a lot to lose...the more you lose the more you'll have to adapt and lower your calories..starting out at 2500 doesn't give you much give and you might plateau. Eat more...lose more ;)

That makes a lot of sense. I have been thinking off swamping out my egg whites for 4oz of lean cut steak with my breakfast,.
