A Small Success

My journey started with me realizing suddenly that the weight I had been maintaining since 9th grade wasn't exactly the best look, fashion wise or health wise. I had weight 163 lbs. and had been wearing the same jeans since 9th grade and it was time for a change. I set my goal originally at 140 lbs., but as I got closer to that goal, I figured I wanted to go to about 130-135 pounds or so. Just as I made that decision, my body decided it was done losing weight for a while! I spent nearly four weeks stalled at 141 pounds! It wasn't easy to just continue as I had been and not losing a single ounce, but I kept pushing.

I changed a few things up, new exercises, longer walks in the evenings. I even lowered and raised my calories a few times looking for the magic mix.

It all paid off! As of this morning I am in the 130's! 139.2 lbs. 1.6 pounds down this week! Finally! I'm back on my way to my new goal.

I haven't been in the 130's since 7th grade! :)

Congratulations on making it to the 130's. Sounds like all your perseverance has paid off.
  • Wow, that is so great. I was fluctuating between 155-160 and I had tried lots of different exercises but nothing was really helping. I finally decided to come to MFP in hopes that I could get back to the 130's. So, you're story really helps me because my biggest problem is that I don't trust that things are working and it's so hard to keep my motivation. How did you push through that? For instance, I've set a goal to count my calories (which I have never ever done) every day for two weeks and then weigh myself. If I see results then I will be "convinced" that it's working. How do you trust the system and not want to give up?

The only way I managed to push through was because I knew it had been working the last three months and should be working now. It is hard to remember for a lot of people that as our bodies change on this journey, so must our plan. Maybe at 140 pounds my body needed something different in order to continue losing ad I just had to find it! I take a plateau as a challenge rather than a defeat.
