    left billions behind in Afghanistan and just plain old lost billions of $$$ into thin air in Iraq...nothing new here really. We've pretty much just been throwing money away for the last 15 years or so.

    they have done this before with other occupied areas. they just leave it all there to rot.

    Eh, it's usually worn out equipment that is worth less than the cost to return it home. I agree that it's wasteful, (and often littering) but this has been going on since at least WWI.

    Nothing new at all...

    I've personally seen semi trucks unload $250,000 worth of brand new office furniture for a military building only to wait for the dozens of dumpsters to be dropped so it can be thrown away as it was made by a different manufacturer that the contracted installer deals with.

    Yes, it might have happened before but not to this extent. What a huge waste of money when the U.S. already has scarce resources.
    It also crosses my mind that some of this equipment is going to be used by the same people the military was fighting.
