Every Month...

I hate this part, every time my body does it monthly thing, it's like my progress takes 10 steps back. It seems like when I finally make it to 211, the following I am going through my PMS changes and then here comes Aunt Flow. For a week, I am tired, unmotivated, and my stomach becomes this bottomless pit; nothing satisfies it. I drink hot tea, if that doesn't work, I move to coffee, if that doesn't work, move to just eating whatever.I haven't touched my scale in two days because I know it is going to just depress me. It's like I can't move forward in journey because Eve decided to eat a stupid apple.

I'm not a woman, so I can't relate specifically to what you're going through. However, in my struggles I did learn a valuable lesson, and maybe this will help you.
There is a difference between goals and results! Goals are things you do and you have no control over results.
Losing weight, the number on the scale, is a result. You can't wake up and decide to lose weight today. Go ahead, try it. Can't do it! It's a RESULT of eating less and exercising more.
So get focused on goals, and let the results happen.
You can control what you eat, even during that special time. Set your goal to be realistic. Ok, you tend to eat more. Great. How about setting your goal to eat at maintenance for that week, plus every last one of your exercise calories. That might be a good start. You may not lose weight, but you didn't gain any, and you got in some exercise and improved your health! That's a good week In 4 or 5 or 6 months of doing that, you can try eating back only half of your exercise calories. Something like that.
You're unmotivated? Happens to the best of us. Make it a goal to call up a supportive friend first thing in the morning to get you inspired. That's a goal you can do. Even if you end up not working out, at least it's a step in the right direction. At least you are addressing the problems that are keeping you back. Find the song that motivates you to get up and get going. Try "I'm so excited" or something like that. Make it a goal to listen to that right after breakfast. Again, maybe you don't workout that day, but maybe you do. You are addressing the problem and CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESS!!!! Try to find a partner, or a walking group, or something. It's a lot easier to meet a gal pal for a walk around the park and a good chat when you have that accountability factor.
Whatever you decide is fine. Just please, set your goal to be something you can actually do. Look at that as your progress. Please stop killing yourself by looking at something you have no control over as a goal.0 -
It takes practice. Lots and lots of it. Drink plenty of water before eating or snacking. Next, eat plenty of fruits and veggies first. By the time you get around to the other foods, you will eat less.0
