Female news anchor on viewer's comments about her weight

I'd be very interested to know what fellow MFPers think of her speech. Of course, the guy who sent the email was ridiculous - judging that she had 'chose to be obese' without even knowing her. On the other hand, though, I feel slightly strange about the fact that she seems to put obesity/overweight issues with things like sexual orientation/skin colour, which seems to make obesity/overweight issues completely fine and the people who try to point out that it's unhealthy are actually discriminating. I'm not saying that people deserved to be called 'fat' in a rude or bullying manner, of course. but i feel that we should be able to acknowledge that obesity/being overweight IS a problem of health, and not just something that simply makes us different (like sexual orientation or the colour of our skin).
what do you guys think?
disclaimer: i'm overweight myself, so i'm really not trying to shame overweight people.
