exercise calories burned

I've got two questions please...
1. When logging exercise on MFP, and it shows you the calories burned, does it take into consideration your weight?
2. I've heard MFP is a little off with calories burned, so only to eat back 50 -75 % of what it says you burned. Sound right?
Thanks

1. Yes, it accounts for weight. You and I will get different numbers for the same exercise option if we are at different weights.
2. Depending on the exercise, I don't find MFP to be too bad for calorie estimations. Things like walking and running will be easier to estimate than things that can have varying intensity like aerobics and such.
That said, I always under log. For example, for an hour of swimming, I put 45 minutes. Pretty much the same idea as eating 50-75%.
Personally, I'd start at 75% and see how that works before going down to half, but yeah, its not a bad idea.0 -

Ah, thanks! This makes sense, when i log my walking and see others logging theirs i wondered why they burn so much more walking a shorter time at a slower pace. MFP is clever i always thought my log was waaaay out!0 -

There was also an issue until very recently with the walking options. Some of them were giving way over inflated burns. I believe the issue is resolved now.
Also, you can manually change the number that comes up, some people may do that if they have other ways of estimating burns - other calculators or HRMs or something.0
