Hello,
I was recently diagnosed with Ploy cystic ovarian syndrome, and my doctor has recommended a low carb, high protein diet to help fight my weight gain. I love the fitness pal app for keeping track of my food consumption on a nutrition based level, but my needs have changed in the nutrition department. I currently have my settings to Carbs 25%, Fat 30%, Protein 45% in my calorie break down but I'm not sure if this follows the guidelines I need to lose weight. If any one out there has some recommendations to help me get on track the healthy way I would love to hear from them!!
Thanks in Advance.

It's the total calories you consume that affect your weight loss - you can have your macros set to whatever % split you like within that.0

When it comes to reducing one particular macro due to health reasons, the whole "split it how you like" thing doesn't really work. But I'm sure you know that. I do a low carb high fat so I can't comment on the protein aspect of your diet, but your NET carbs should be around 5-15%. And by net carbs that means: total carbs - carbs from fibre = net carbs. For example: 12g carbs - 10g fibre = 2g net carbs. Net carbs is what you need to worry about and there is a script for that to use with MFP on your PC. Fiddle with your carb macro until you find a level you can handle long-term if not life-long.
PS
I suggest starting around 10% and adjust it from there, either higher or lower. And keep in mind the first 1-3 weeks you will crave carbs like a mofo.0 -
Can you post your height current weight and goal weight? Also the macro values in grams not in percentages.0
