Quick question since everyone is talking about BF% - Where can you professionally have your BF% checked?

Making a list from most accurate to least and guesses at likely location.

    1) DEXA scan. Basically an Xray that can give you an exact body composition measure. Hospitals and clinics.

    2) Dunk tank. Submerge you in water to measure body comp. University fitness centers some clinics.

    3) BodPod. A machine that I think uses air pressure to determine composition. Some gyms and fitness clinics.

    4) Calipers. Accurate in the right hands and for people with healthy to fit body fat levels. If obese they are innacurate. Can buy yourself or pay for an evaluation aat most gyms.

    5) tape measure. Probably most people's best bet for at home measure. Can be used in conjunction with online calculator. Less accurate than properly used calipers for those of healthy bodyfat levels but still okay.

    6) Bodyfat scale. These are crap wildly innacurate and completely thrown off by your bodies water and salr content

No problem. In my opinion if uou are willing to take the time to learn how to track your bod your body composition with a tape measurer, calipers and the occasional professional exam you will have a much healthier outlook and goal than someone who is only concerned with there scale weight.

I'll look into getting a proper physical exam when I go to the doctor's next. I take my measurements every week as is. And my body composition seems to be mostly lower half heavy. I'll look into getting calipers when I have the money and learning how to use them properly.

Sounds good. You can get a decent pair of calipers for like 15 bucks. Hard to caliper yourself though so a significant other or someone you are close and comfortable with is handy for accuracy. Sure you can do a Google search on use of bodyfat calipers and find lots of info.

My weight loss did not show until I dropped 30 pounds.

it was the exact same for me, when i hit 30 i could tell some difference mainly from phots of myself and the way my clothes fit. now the way i notice is mainly by size changes in my clothes. i dont see a big difference in myself, but i've been told by a lot of people that they see a big difference.

How much above your target weight were you?

judging by their ticker, they started 84lbs above their goal. I started about 134lbs above my goal and didnt really notice anything until 30lbs.

I don't know if I should put this on another section but:
Is the 7 minute workout any good? I'm losing weight and would like to tone up at the same time so I'm not just losing fat but making my muscles more visible and hopefully gain some. Would it be sufficient to do it twice a day? I did it a few minutes ago and I started sweating a lot and was a bit tired, don't know if that's a good indicator of whether how high intense it was. If you don't know about it, a quick google search will tell you. It seems to have a bit of everythng in it

    Thanks

I heard that men store most of their body fat on their belly. Since it's the belly and chest that's mostly where I'd like to lose, would these areas be the first to lose fat?

They wont be the first to lose fat, you''re body will lose fat all over, but you'll notice (at least i did) more loss in your stomache and chest mainly because thats where most of mine is, i didnt have a lot of arm/leg. measure yourself every other week or once a month and you'll see your waist shrink fastest.

It takes at least four weeks for you to notice a difference in yourself. I'd say 12 weeks is a good starting point for seeing a real difference if you've made any drastic changes. Your body is recomping itself so the weight may seem like it's shifting to other places when in fact it's just you loosing fat from one area and another area being more noticeable.

Thanks, how much weight did you lose before you noticed an inch of your waist reduced? Also, what was your initial waist size if you don't mind me asking?
