yes yes i know, another HRM question...

Hi all, ok... so I just received my Polar FT4 in the mail the other day because I really wanted to track all my cardio burns, in Particular DDR (dance dance revolution) since I play it 2 to 3 times a week average. I heard a lot of good reviews about this HRM and decided what the heck, why not.
Now, originally I was guesstimating around 250-300 calorie burn for an hours worth of play on heavy mode (talking 8's, 9's, and 10's here with good exertion and usually only 15 or 30 seconds breaks in between each song)

( https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10202413000680184&l=3537965168769481124 ) <--- example of the "easier" stuff I do.

So today, I go to my local arcade with the new HRM on and I did everything in the manual correctly and my resting heart rate looked good at 70bpm, played an hours worth of ddr and was dripping sweat by the time I got done. I took a look at my burned calories and it said 790! WTF. That can't be right? or could it? my average heart rate was 156 and maxed at 212.
Does this seem plausible at all??

A little info on me, since I know how all of you need stats

female (duh)
26 years old
5'6
147lbs
quit smoking 6 months ago
eat a fairly healthy diet, minus the random cheat days here and there
I try to exercise at least 3 times a week, I switch up between ddr, lifting weights (NROLFW) and anything active really.
I'm also a server and usually work 4 days a week (5 to 8 hour shifts)
but other than that I can sit in front of a computer for a full day and not do anything, or I could be home and just running errands all day, I'm very sporadic every week (bad, I know)

So back to my original question, do you think it's plausible that I actually burned this much or should i reduce it by 15% or so?
If I did burn that many them mannnn I have a lot of calories to eat tonight O_o;

Thanks to anyone willing to give me some advice! :flowerforyou:

Honestly, I don't think that number is right. When I first started working out my max HR would be over 200 and I would get very high burn numbers (600cals for a 30 walk/jog?) but I usually halved those because they just didn't feel right. Now I'm fitter, I struggle to get my HR above 175 and feel that my number is a lot more accurate, though I still take a cut off just in case.

    Thank you for your input.
I was going to cut my calories anyway (just in case) because it didn't seem all that right to me :noway:

No worries! I could be wrong, but my gut instinct when I got results like that was that they were probably a bit off. And it's probably best log too few burned than too many when you're trying to lose

That seems about double what I would expect

Haha I hear ya, although it would be nice if I did burn that many calories

It would massively explain why I never became obese even though I would eat 4-5k a day but play ddr almost every day for hours and hours when I was younger. ahhh I can only dream lol:laugh:
