After a very long, difficult pregnancy, I am a 38 year old mommy of a 12 year old and now an infant. This time around, I am finding it next to impossible to lose the weight! Would love to make some new friends that are dealing with a similar issue. I am at the largest I have ever been in my life! Need to lose 50! Missing my cute shorts and VERY tired of wearing yoga pants!

But look at that BEAUTIFUL baby!!!! Congratulations! You'll get back on track! Give it a little bit of time and don't worry about it. I've noticed stressing about my weight causes me to not lose weight - weird, right?0 -
She is SO worth it!!! You are very right!0

Your baby is beautiful!!!
The weight will come off, just takes tons of hard work and eating at a deficit!! :-)0 -
So true! And, thank you! She is precious! I am starting a group workout class next week! Hopefully that will get me moving in the right direction~0

What a sweet baby! I'm not exactly in the same boat (I had my first baby in December) but I'm looking to lose 40 more pounds. Feel free to add me!0

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can only fit into workout clothes after having a baby But seriously, I'm gonna need to fit into something soon because I have to go back to work at the end of the month. I'm not at my heaviest, but I'm still a good 70 pounds above my goal weight.0

Congrats on your beautiful little one!!!
Long and difficult pregnancies make for long and difficult recovery. (I had that with my last at 37 and he will be 8 in June.) It takes longer to recover in the late 30s than in the mid-20s for sure. Give yourself time. Set MFP for a pound/week loss and eat what it says. I had a very hard time losing weight until my kids slept 6 hours straight. Sleep deprivation stressed my body and I just couldn't lose. Put the baby in a stroller and walk until you can get in other woerkouts. Above all, don't quit. It will take time to lose 50 pounds in a healthy way that helps keep it off.
Good luck!!!0 -
Congrats on the adorable baby!!! And congrats on making this change NOW instead of waiting til they are 18+ like myself, to start, lol0

Beautiful babe! My "baby" is 6, and I still have weight to lose, but we're all here to work on it together!0

She is such a cute little peanut! Try taking her on long hard hikes. You can spend time with the baby + shred major cals!0

Congrats on the baby!
My daughter will be 8 this month and I will be having a baby in June. I have 60+ lbs that I need to lose. Of course, I won't be trying to lose for a couple more months but feel free to add me, I will be joining you soon enough0 -
Honey! I'm there witcha. After my first, I lost all the weight in 6 weeks. After my second, I was on Depo and had to work forever to get it off. After my third, I settled in eventually, and after this last one...
Done and over with He's 2 1/2 and until about 6 months ago people were still asking when I was due.0 -

Hey,
I too am an older mom. I had my fourth child right after I turned 38 and my fifth child right before I turned 40. Between my oldest child and youngest child their is an 20 year age gap I am much more tired chasing after the little ones as I was when I was younger and finding time to even workout is also challenging. I also know that I have to get into shape so I can live longer and healthier so I can be there for my kids. On the days I am so tired and don't want to work I keep remembering why I am doing this. I also had a rough pregnancy. Heck none of my pregnancies have been a walk in the park. My last little guy was taken early due a near cord accident and spent 4 weeks in NICU. The doctor called him our little miracle. You just gota do your best and keep remembering why you are doing this. Add me if you want.0 -
I only have one 4.5 years ago. I don't plan on having anymore since I will be 40 this year. I just lost the 60 pounds I gained from him this past weekend. The first 40 came off with no problem. My struggle was the last 20. I didn't have time and I wasn't dieting correctly. I didn't know how to diet correctly until I joined MFP a while back, but I didn't take it seriously until this past November, when I said I had enough! (Around my birthday.) It's been a slow journey and I'm not done yet. I think I have another 5 pounds in me so can fit my skinny girl clothes a little bit better. Just take your time and I think the most important thing is to have fun during your journey.0

In a similar situation... DD was born in Dec. I had severe complications at the end of pregnancy and have not fully recovered yet. I initially lost 18kgs within a week after the c-section (which was all the build up of fluids through my body) and since being out of hospital I have gained 7kgs.
I need to stop the gain now, it is already hard being this size. 18 months ago I was a happy, healthy, fit size 12. Now... no idea of my size, I haven't had the courage to go shopping, I am wearing 2XL mens shirts atm.
Just do your best, that is all I am expecting of myself. Also try not to be so hard on yourself, looking after a little one is so tiring, not many of us can just have the weight fall off easily.0 -

Your baby girl is absolutely darling, congratulations! I'm close to your age and my "baby" will be 18 in 3 weeks. I'm about to start my first cycle of Clomid, hoping to have one more little blessing.
I'm sure you'll be back in your cute clothes sooner than you think. You have the determination! Best wishes. Enjoy that beautiful baby! :flowerforyou:0
