Anyone seen or tried this diet to lose a stone?

So I came across this diet that's supposed to be some sort of chemical diet to lose a stone in a week. The website with the details is here http://www.jaduncan.com/2006/04/how-i-lost-stone-in-week.html It is only ment for one week then you break for a week or 2 but maintaining the weight then start again to help kick start diets. Was wondering if anyone has tried this or similar as I am starting tomorrow to see how it goes. I'll be updating daily to keep track of progress but wonders if anyone would like to try also or if they have tried before. :) cheers for reading.

I have heard reasonable goals, a calorie deficit, and patience works pretty well for weight loss.

General consensus on here is a lot of hate towards fad diets.

    Yes, they will work.

No they will not be sustainable.

Yes you will gain weight once you resume "normal" eating.

The most successful and sustainable weightloss is slow, hard work by eating a calorie deficit which isn't so low that you eat you're miserable and add some exercise into your lifestyle. Tried and tested THIS WORKS

I calculated the calories consumed for the entire week, and it looks like it would be 6000 assuming you are eating recommended portions of everything. Though it does say unlimited fruit...

That is 3000 calories lower than my weekly limit.

That is also under 1000 calories a day. So of course you would lose weight but you would be miserable and not want to work out at all while on this diet. Not to mention it being VLCD

Right on the top of the page it says that its meant for people that need to lose weight for medical reasons or for surgery. Which means it would be medically supervised.

There is no need to lose that much weight at once. Eat reasonably, exercise, and be happy with yourself.

I exercise everyday doing cardio and walking to work and back. My calorie intake isn't that high anyway and I eat healthy like fruits, fish and veg, and I do lose slowly. Just I have read from other sites that a lot of people have used it for one week to boost a kick start and they even maintained the weight loss after. It was just a thought and I was just curious if others had seen or tried anything similar. No harm in asking right? :)

It's nice to see someone that doesn't get upset when it's recommended that you just stick to a reasonable caloric deficit and good eating habits makes a bigger change than any diet pill.

I've not heard of what you speak of but I've never seen results with weight loss tablets or any weight loss supplement except for them making me more regular in the bathroom.

This isn't so much a diet as it is "barely eating." Starving yourself is never going to be a good idea.

My favourite part of the "diet" is:
    7. No substitutes allowed. The basis of the diet is chemical, not the quantities.

So if on the days I'm allowed grilled chicken and steak (presumably beef), I end up gorging myself on 6 chicken breasts and 4 steaks because I'm so flipping hungry, AND I consume an entire box of raisins for lunches (it said as much as I want), and my calorie intake is too high ... well ... I must have done something wrong if I didn't lose a stone.

Why not just eat sensibly, exercise at least a small amount, get a good rest each night and enjoy life a little more?
