MFP and Fitbit Flex

Hi there.. I just recently purchased a fitbit flex and decided to sync it with My fitness pal. I had been using My net diary but found mfp easier to use with the flex. Also it doesn't cost anything! I had used mfp years ago and found it difficult. It's definitely gotten way better since I used it before!
Hopefully the 2 together will help me lose the 10 pounds I'm hoping to lose over the next little while.

I've had the same set-up for a week now and it's been great ! Just be sure to only enter your food & exercise in MFP (not Fitbit) and everything will transfer itself. A note about logging exercise in MFP ---> only log exercise activities that are not "step" driven (ex: strength training, elliptical trainer, cycling, yoga, rowing etc) to avoid duplication in "steps" and give you a more realistic picture of the cals burned V. exercise.

    Cheers,

    Nat
  • I have a fitbit force and I'm still trying to consistently get 10,000 steps a day...

Food & drink (including water) must be logged in MFP. And step-based activity shouldn't be logged at all. But non-step exercise can be logged either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. I find Fitbit's burns to be way more accurate than MFP's one-size-fits-all guesstimates.

It will take trial & error to find what works for you.

Reckon I shall give that a go (entering my non-step based activities via Fitbit instead of MFP), see what happens ! Thanks for the tip!

I agree that FB probably is more accurate for the non-step exercise. BUT! If you are using a HRM for the non step activities - you have a real account of the burn and so can enter into MFP then - in the end, your burns are relative to so many factors and can change for any single activity from day to day, so be careful on both!! :)
