c25k calories burned sound right?

This morning was day 1 of c25k n I don't have an HRM. I don't want to over estimate calories burned but the HRM on treadmill said 150 cals? Does that sound about right if my speed was 3.9 n I ran more than I walked?

Thanks guys!

Depending on your weight, that sounds quite low to me - I burn about 10 calories a minute running. No method is perfect, but try using MFP's cardio calories for the number of minutes you were walking and the number of minutes you were running separately to get a fair idea.

I actually think that sounds about right, given that on day 1 of C25K you alternate jogging with walking for around 20 minutes, am I right? Also treadmills take some of the 'work' out of running because you don't have to propel yourself forwards like you do on the road, so although 150 sounds low I think it's probably quite close.

Calorie burns do depend on your height, weight and metabolism though, so the only way you can be more accurate is to calculate your calorie burn from your heart rate, which means using a heart rate monitor - the ones with a chest strap are best.
  • When i did c25k i just entered the time walking and the time jogging. I think the first time your jogging for 60 secs on and 90 off? so just add those minutes of jogging up, say its five minutes and log it as jogging and the other 20 as walking. Every week just change it as your program changes.

i weigh 245ish lbs, and run using a few different tracking devices. My average speed is around 3.5 and i burn 380 cals per session in week 1. (that's the lowest given burn of any of my tracking devices, i l.ike to play it safe.)

Make sure the treadmill is set to your individual weight and use the HRM built in for more accurate readings

    edited to add:

Also i run on the road so have a higher burn. As someone above said, treadmills do take out some of the work.
