Moving, and overeating, and my birthday

We have been living as expats in South America for the past 2 years. Last week my boss told me he wanted me to come back to our home country as soon as possible. We're leaving here next week - so really quick. In my weird state of mind, I thought 'yay, I can do lots of baking to get rid of all the ingredients in our cupboard'. So I did on the weekend - I baked LOTS. But then I ate LOTS.

For the last few weeks I've been hovering around 58-59 kg (really want to get down below 57kg). Thursday I was 57kg. This morning I was 59.6kg. I know it's not all fat, and I know I can get back down to 57 kg relatively soon. But today is my birthday. And I want to enjoy it.

I'm wondering whether I care about trying to get back to 57kg this week, or just take whatever comes as we'll be eating out quite a bit, going to restaurants for the last time, etc. And should I care about tracking, considering the rest of the stresses that we're under with trying to move halfway around the world in less than a week.

Any ideas?

First, you're almost at goal. Congratulations! Set your goal to the slowest rate (in pounds, it's .5 lb. per week), and be patient. The smaller deficit will also help you transition to maintenance.

Second, it's perfectly reasonable to eat at maintenance during times of extreme stress. I prefer to keep logging everything accurately & honestly, but you'll have to decide that for yourself.

    Third, happy birthday!

Thanks! I'm thinking of still trying to track, but if I miss some I'm not going to get too fussed. Also, I'm not going to be able to do much exercise until probably mid-next week, but will definitely run/walk wherever possible (we're giving away my weights - sob!). I guess once I get back into a routine in our next place, it shouldn't be too difficult to get back into it - right? Please?

It's always a tough one. It's tempting to use an excuse to eat what you want. My birthday is in a few days and I really want to have a 'cheat meal', but I've been eating too much lately too and I don't want to make things worse. I'm still unsure what I'm going to do... Probably make good choices but have a dessert.

So far I've had pancakes (only 2) with honey and raisins for breakfast, and a chocolate marzapan sweet for morning tea. Planning on ceviche for lunch, then my husband is making a gourmet dinner for me - peanut satay chicken with baked potato wedges and steamed veggies for dinner. I made a decadent peanut butter brownie cheesecake for my 'birthday cake' (had some samples yesterday so I know it tastes good), but will only have one piece. And I think that will be it for the day.

My kids bought me some other rice cake/chocolate covered things (alfajors for those who know Chilean sweets), and some camembert for my birthday - might try to ration them for throughout the rest of this week - what do you think?
