Hi there my name is Marisol. I am a mom of 4 who leads a very busy schedule between work, kids and home.
I never find time for myself. I replaced the need to have time for myself by smoking cigarettes and indulging myself in carb filled foods. This would be my "me" time.

I realized I had a problem. I stopped smoking in January 2014. Now I need to work on my weight (which I did NOT gain as a result of stopping smoking) I gained as a result of not taking control of it years ago after the pregnancies.

I am hoping to get good tips from the community out here. I am wondering if any of you lost 50 lbs or more. Post or email me with some advice or tell me about some things you did that worked for you.

Thanks

    hello, my name is mark
i used to be a personal trainer and would love to help ya out, but first its always good for you to know a little about me, my journey wasnt always being fit, i started out my journey 3 years ago at 300 lbs, i have gone through all differant things and have learned everything through the experiences i have had, i am now 195 lbs and still losing, if u have any questions about anything just ask me but the first thing that u have to fix especially with a busy schedule is your diet, and no i dont mean refabing the whole thing because most people never stick to it, trust me i know!!!, first its more of just eating regularly, not so sparatic, make sure to just start out with eating something small every 2-3 hours so your body starts getting used to it always getting energy, so it can learn to no longer store the energy as fat and start to burn it off immediatly

    Hi Marisol, welcome!

You'll get lots of advice here. Read it, think about it, and anything that doesn't seem like it will work for you, feel free to disregard it. Yes, me saying that will irritate the people that will tell you to eat 1000-1200 calories a day and exercise an hour or more.

To start, just log your food. Don't think about it, just log it. Get a scale and weigh what you are eating. After logging your food for a couple of weeks, then start by making small adjustments. Change one thing and get used to that one thing. Then change another thing, and on, and on.

The amount you want to lose doesn't have to be on a timetable. It would be best if it isn't. When you are trying to get where you want to be, the changes that are manageable are the ones that will stay easy.

I love carbs, carbs love me. They want to stay with me for the rest of my life settling comfortably into my hips and thighs. It's a daily thing for me to find a way to satisfy the cravings for carbs or salt.

As for losing weight after 40, the only reason people say that is because we have done the same thing for such a long period of time, it's hard to adjust the way we think about food and exercise. But truly, it's hard at any age.

Again welcome, and I hope you have a wonderful journey to the new you.
