Anybody do track&field or pole vault?

I've noticed my only motivation for working out is becoming fast like I used to.

I'm slow now and I want to pole-vault again recreationally at a masters level but I am way too slow.

Anybody else previous track and field runners? Would you be interested in sharing workouts?

I just HATE going to the gym because its SO BORING. (Also, how can I justify going to the gym when it's a beautiful day outside to work out?!)

I was a sprinter, jumper, and pole vaulter in highschool...but that was over 20 years ago now. I only go to the gym to lift and primarily ride my bike these days for cardio. I tried to get back into sprinting for exercise last year when I started all of this and it was just too hard on my older joints and whatnot. Pole vaulting recreationally would be interesting, but I wouldn't have a clue as to where that could be done.

I ran the 800m and the 3200m relay. I was horribly slow in short runs, but I outlasted everyone in the long-distance runs. I would have done cross-country, but the school wouldn't let me do that and soccer at the same time, so I picked soccer.

There are sometimes gyms in the area. My nearest one is about 60 minutes from me. Try polevaultpower.com

I never even thought there would be recreational pole vaulting. That would be awesome. I was mostly a sprinter/hurdler jumper but got to pole vault in the decathlon. You can do all the working out you need without going in a gym. Do your sprints & plyo stuff at the local HS track, and follow a good body weight strength program or use the gym for lifting.
