Medication Pain

I am doing an ok job with losing weight but when I found I was not losing like I should I brought it up to a therapist I have. She told me that medication that I take actually has a side effect. That side effect is gaining weight. I could not believe it when she told me. I then looked back as to when I was taking my medication and sure enough I really started putting on the weight when I started the medication. A whopping 11 lbs in 3 months. Here I thought it was what I was eatting though I eat pretty healthy and go to the gym regularly to the point that people say I am a machine for how much I do. Im at the gym 5 days a week doing 1.5 hours of cardio and 3 days a week I add in weight training. Im on a 1200 calorie a day program. Any ideas on how to battle this till I can get a change of medication?
