Late night gym...STARVING. Any ideas?

I can't get to the gym until almost 7 at night between work, school and kids. I do about an hour of strength training and at least an hour of cardio. By the time I leave the gym I'm starving and that's when I end up over eating. I'm craving protein and carbs. It's horrible. Any ideas? I drink a protein meal replacement (nutrition 53 lean 1) before the gym, because I can't work out on a full stomach.

    shake after and a banana

    or post workout mix

    or a sandwhich

    protien bar or candy bar

the general theme being bring something to the gym with you

LOL you didn't seem ****** at all. In fact, I appreciate the help. By the way, I took your advice yesterday. I asked about super sets and liked your circuit training suggestion...loved it! I had a blast and I never worked so hard. I loved that exhausted feeling. But, damn at the hunger lol. So, thank you.

Many will say that your really cheating yourself if you don't eat something right after exercise

if you are that hungry then you definetly want to eat something.

Something with protien would be good.

supposedly a beverage with a 4:1 carb to protien ratio is ideal post workout. they have shakes that have that ratio, or you can drink chocolate milk which has a 3:1 carb to protien ratio.

I was having the same issue, and someone here suggested I save some calories for those evenings when I work out late. I came home and made a smoothie with whey, almond milk, and some frozen fruit; and then I had a light protein/veggie meal. It felt like a lot but it totally worked.

Why not bring a 1/2 PB sandwich with you take a short break and eat.

I have 2 hard boiled eggs- or some yogurt before I go work out- gets me through- and I specifically leave room in ze diet to eat after I get home.

I often am not home till 10 or 1130 at night- and I'm FAMISHED. First thing I do is slam a glass of milk- go shower then figure out what food I want or if I just want ice cream instead. easy peasy lemon squeezy

I eat probably 500+ calories after 10 PM regularly- I just plan for it.

I'm a BIG fan of IF when I'm cutting- pushing back breakfast as late as I can- I just finished my first meal just before this post. I'll eat again around 4 and then when I get home.

I eat after I work out at night...usually a smoothie or eggs and toast.

As someone else has said, plan your calories so you have a lot in the evening.

I swim late in the evening twice a week and when I get home at 10.15pm I'm ravenous, even though I've had dinner earlier in the evening.

I eat greek yogurt, toast, some chocolate, porridge or have a cup of cocoa.

Try and eat small amounts throughout the day...so you don't ever get that starving feeling going.

McDonalds, get a mcdouble without the bun, not too bad on Cal, and sometimes they even give you lettuce. Here, it's just over a buck, for another buck, large unsweet tea (nothing added) and you are only around 250 Cal, give or take. (Look in my food diary, it is my lunch most days. Sometimes 2 for dinner.) You save about 100 Cal by not getting the bun, and they even will often give you plasticware (which I give to my wife when she takes her lunch to work.)
