Trying to get "unstuck"

I want to say that it is impossible to have hit a plateu after only 16 pounds. The main reason that I do not want to call it that, is because any other time that I've "dieted" and I hit a "plateau" I quit and went back to my old ways, well DAMN IT! This time it's going to be different if I have a bad day, I shake it off and work twice as hard the next day.

I am just as strict as I was when I started (if not more) I'm doing more while at the gym, I'm usually sore (that good workout sore) and after losing 16 pounds in 28 days, Its stopped. Now, I understand that I am only a week out. Today is my day 35 but even if the average is 2 pounds a week, I should have at least one off. I feel like I've been trying to hard to push past that ... slump... and its no no avail.

Does anyone have suggestions, what has helped you? What has helped people you know. I don't want to stay "stuck" and I WILL be successful this time. I just have no idea as to how to get there.....

Don't worry about it too much.
As you said, the last time you hit a plateau you quit - that's the worst you could do.
I haven't been losing any weight for a month, even though I am eating 1200 calories (net) every day and working out 5 times a week. It's normal and you shouldn't worry about it, because I promise you, if you know that you're doing everything right, you WILL lose the weight. Just trust the math!
You might be storing water weight or whatever crazy stuff could be going on in your body, and who knows, maybe you will just drop 5 pounds next week!
The most important thing is that you don't get discouraged.
Just think about how great you are treating your body, how your fitness improves and how you feel, focus on the positive, don't feel discouraged if the scale doesn't show off your hard work!
    Good luck to you :)

I have the same issue and it can last as long as 4 weeks. If you're doing the same routines, your body will get used to it and progress can/will stop. However, don't get discouraged. try changing up what you're doing. Even your food intake. If you're taking in the same calories every day, try cutting one day short a few hundred calories then the next day eat those. You have to keep your body guessing.

You say 'only 16lb' but that's 15% of the amount you want to lose, you've done well go get this far.

Unfortunately weight loss isn't linear - stick with it. There's weeks where I gain and lose the same kilo over and over for a few weeks and then I lose a couple in one week.

When I say doing the same thing, i was more alluding to be strict with myself, my meals are different but getting more and more healthy as I'm starting to play with foods I never really ate and at the gym I did just the elliptical for the first month, I've moved on to weight training and HIIT workouts. Just hoping I can push through :-) Thank you all!!!

You gotta throw something different in your routine. Just don't give up. You'll get there.

Don't call it a plateau - because it's not. It's a stall. You can use the word "hiccup" if you want. Stalls are longer than 4 weeks usually. And if you're in this for the long haul, you will have a few, if not many. It requires some tweaking to get it going again, but after only one week, I wouldn't even think about it. It's nothing. Your body has lost a lot in a short amount of time and it's probably panicking. Just keep going, and when you hit a real plateau, that's when you need to mix things up a bit. Tain't nuthin'.
