Injury

Got injured running. Calf strain. Would like to get back into cycling. How do I go about it?

Not sure what you're asking. With calf strains, you want to avoid any activities that cause pain. If cycling doesn't cause you pain, go for it. Only one way to find out..

Sorry I wasn't specific there. I was in fact asking if there's anything else I can do to maintain my current fitness level but that won't cause me any further pain in my calf.

I have exactly the same, think its a pulled muscle. Only just returned to running. On previous attempts I have ended up with shin splints, pulled calves and pulled hip flexors! My technique is obviously rubbish! I am hoping to attend a clinic/workshop for beginner runners.

Until then, I just continue with yoga - as it gives me a good stretch, aqua aerobics - this has very little risk of injury, and bodybalance.

Why not try spinning - indoor cycling? It is a fast intense workout with a controlled warm-up/cool down. If you like it, then try cycling outside. It is slightly different but it gives you a chance to know if cycling is for you.

    how about some swimming -
I get shing splints when I run and have been advised against high impact sports by the doc, so i swim and cycle and do pilates

in the pool, if I get leg or foot pain (from hypermobile joints) I stop kicking and swim arms only - it takes a little practice - but if you work hard it'll get your heart rate up

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Unfortunately I can't swim so cycling will be my best bet, lol!
