Why don't the calories from carbs/fat/protein add up when do

Take this:

2,640 346 71 211

346g of carbs * 4 = 1384 calories
71g fat * 9 = 639 calories
211g protein * 4 = 844 calories

1384 + 639 + 844 = 2867. That's a pretty big discrepancy, a difference of 227 calories (almost 10%). Why so different? It makes it very difficult to calculate percentages.

Could be a couple things, I have 2 guesses
    1. How much Fiber did you have? Fiber passes through your body and although it is a carb you don't absorb the cals so if you ate at 57g (227/4) fiber that could account for it.
    2. The nutritional info is entered in by users and could be wrong, try adding up the info for each input and see which entry(s) is causing the discrepancy. (this is probably your issue)
  • Some labels have all sorts of lies on them, that's the easiest way to explain it. the 4 calorie / 9 calorie thing is also just an estimate, actual caloric numbers may vary, and other types of bad fats may boost that caloric number by quite a margin.

I agree with both comments, I changed my settings and had them show me the fiber as well. The number was closer after I added the fiber in the mix. It was still of about 70 calories...which is a little confusing.

Aaaahhhhh Fiber..... 55g, 220 calories..... just about perfect lol

So did I eat 2,640 or 2867 calories that day? Because MFP doesn't include calories from Fiber in the amount of calories consumed that day.

And if I want to know % of carbs, for instance, , is it 1384 divided into 2640 or 2867? Thanks! :)
