Following group fitness instructors to new gyms?

Looking ahead to May on my fitness studio's calendar, my favorite instructor's name is conspicuously absent. Not gonna lie... I'm having separation anxiety just thinking about it. So I was wondering -- is it normal to follow a group fitness instructor to other studios/classes? Or is that super creepy and weird?
I love my studio -- the owner is awesome, all of the instructors I've worked with are super-knowledgeable and encouraging, and there's a real sense of community among the regulars. But Joanna (my favorite instructor) was the reason I initially fell in love with the place. In just one 60-minute class per week, she has a way of pushing you physically, helping you find perfect form, and giving you enough encouragement to last the whole week -- and she does this for every individual in a 12-person group class!
Since starting classes with Joanna, I have created a regular weekly fitness routine (something I've never had before), started running (which I never thought I'd do for fun), and gained SO much self-confidence (in fitness AND everyday endeavors!) because I can hear Joanna's voice in the back of my head insisting "you're stronger than you think you are." She's better than a therapist, and cheaper too!
So, weirdo one-sided love story aside, I'm just wondering -- has anyone else ever followed a particularly awesome group instructor to different facilities? Even if they're far less conveniently-located than your current facility? Is it something I should speak with my instructor about, so I don't just start showing up at her classes all over town like a stalker? Thoughts? Precedents? Advice?

I don't think that's strange at all. She's the kind of instructor that makes you want to keep working out - sounds like a solid reason to follow her to her new studio.
And really, I don't see it as any different than following your favorite hair dresser to a new salon.0 -
get her number and ask if she'll train you privately. many group instructors have a place where they train clients 2 or 3 at a time.0

If my personal trainer left my gym, I would leave too. I have watched the other trainers and believe that they would NOT be able to push me to the limits that I am at right now. To be successful there has to be some kind of motivation, my trainer is awesome I couldn't see myself where I am at today without his efforts!! So no it's not weird or freakish, it's finding what fits and benefits you!0

well if my swim coach went somewhere else i would have more then likely followed him0

thanks, everyone, for the input/validation!0

There are about 10 girls in my monday night class that go to my instructors classes at 3-4 different gyms around town all week! It's not weird at all to do. If I was an instructor I would think it was awesome to have people follow me to my new gym.0

I have my own Joanna, and I would definitely consider following him if he left for another gym. But honestly, since I get a great discount at my club through work, I might not follow if I didn't also receive that discount at the other club.0

There is at least one group ex instructor that I'd most definitely follow to a different gym. I don't think she'd find it creepy, but rather be really flattered. Do it!0
