Obsession with burning calories

I'm a 6'1 320lb 19 year old male. I'm on week 3 of my lifestyle change and I've recently been developing an obsession with burning calories/sweating a lot/exhausting myself. I feel like if I didn't burn 1000+ cals on a day (I'm 320lbs so it isn't too hard) I in a sense "failed". when I see a green 1000 left for the day to eat I'm satisfied( I still eat 1800-2100 a day). This leads to me being in a 7000-9000 cal deficit ON TOP OF my 2lb deficit goal for the week. Maybe I'm just impatient. Anyone like this?

This does not seem wise to me. Though I question your math. Before exercise, I calculate an estimated TDEE of 3000. So if you're exercising 1000 calories every day, that's 4000 calories per day burned. If you were someone I loved, and we worked out that their total TDEE was 4000 calories, and they were your size/age, I'd recommend they eat at least 2500 every day.

Edit to add: oh the 7000 was every week... that makes more sense. But still, if the MFP ap is showing that you have 1000 more calories to eat each day, and you already have it set to lose 2 lbs per week, this means your daily deficit is 2000 calories. This sounds like a lot to me. And I wouldn't advise anyone I cared about to have as large of a deficit. Just my two cents.

Have you head of eating disorders?

Well there is a disorder for constantly wanting to burn more calories than you eat...

Not sure of what they actually call it.

I would speak to a fitness expert or a psychologist.

MFP has you at a deficit...it isn't necessary to burn 1,000 calories a day. You are going to exhaust yourself.

I'm almost exactly the same "stats" as you. 6'2" 19 m 329 pounds. I eat about 2200 calories per day and have lost 6 pounds in the last 10 days. That may be because my job is pretty physical but if you are hungry, don't be scared to move your calories up. If I were you, I'd eat at least 2000 per day just when you don't exercise. And if you aren't using a HRM, your estimated calorie burn is guaranteed to be to high unless you are reducing what the machine tells you. A 14,000 deficit per week is definitely too much. (7000 set by MFP and another 7k from exercise and diet.)

well, at the moment since you are a bigger guy and still getting into the swing of things, you'll have no trouble burning a thousand calories and working up a sweat. but eventually your body will start to get more efficient.

and i've seen your diary man. you can keep up with this kind of eating and working out, but it's not good in the long run.

I have an obsession with burning at least 500 calories every day. I think you are going a little overboard with it, but if I don't burn a good amount of calories, I get so angry at myself. However, you are burning a lot and I don't think it's an obsession with burning calories more so than it is with wanting to see results, and fast.

Take some time to create a good workout routine, (you did say you're only on week 3). Good results take time, and that's honestly what you want. You have to be patient with it. You didn't gain it in a day, so you can't lose it in a day. If you have a reasonable calorie burn everyday as well as EATING RIGHT and healthy, you should lose the pounds in no time.

    Good luck :)
