Reverse dieting

Does anyone have experience with reverse dieting and how strict you have to be with calorie counting?

I have done some research and it seems like it is recommended to take it slow and add calories each week. I need to take it even more slow because of PCOS.

However, how is reverse dieting done with regards to occasional meals that you dont know the calorie amount in? Would it hinder my progress if I add 50-100 calories pr week - and once in a while go out to dinner where I have to guesstimate the calorie intake - so the calories wouldnt be perfect on point?

I mean, I am expecting that this process will take several months - and not to eat meals that are outside my calculations seem kind of unrealistic.

So say I eat at at restaurant one meal some week - and I know that I went over my daily calorie intake - should I then not add any extra calories that week?

I hope it makes sense what I am talking about :)

Well, no. I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe someone will come along that does.

I just googled Reverse dieting and found ver helpful info on this topic at averagefitnessfreak.com they explain the diet and the breakdown of it. I have never heard of this diet before but hopefully the site can be more helpful to you. :)
  • I'd say do what's comfortable for you at the start, and if you aren't getting the results you want then you know you have to cut you the extra. It's a guess and check process to find what works for you.

Rate of reverse depends on a number of factors but I think most people in most situations would be fine with a reversal rate around 50-150 calories/week give or take.

Don't stress out over restaurant food. I'm assuming you were eating at restaurants before the reverse diet and making the appropriate estimations when possible, just like you would during a reverse dieting phase.
