too much protein?

I entered in my daily food today and it said I went over by protein by 45 today. Is that okay? All i had was ham and ground beef??
Everything else is in range, but the protein is way over.. Insight please:)

I am supposed to eat a gm of protein/pound. That means I am going to go over my total every day.0

I know for a fact that you have to have certain amount of protein per day, if you have no protein is very bad for the heatlh.0

it wont hurt to go over your protein. If anything it will help build muscle.0

the default protein allowance on here is really low. Go into your settings and up it! You can't eat too much protein IMO!
Oh, I thik the default is 15%? Up it to 35% and put carbs down by % .... or whatever balance you are happy with, there is no set rule. But definitely up the protein, its good for your muscle repair while you're exercising so much :bigsmile:

Going over on protein is not really anything to be concerned with unless you have kidney function issues, which usually means limiting protein consumption. As long as the kidneys are not an issue, If you are going to be "over" on something, protein is a lot better than some of your other options, such as sodium, sugar.....0

Will be fine as a one off. Even if you were regularly way over the risk of any adverse effects are slim. Lots of weight trainers consume large amounts safely though I have heard bad things about people constantly consuming large amounts (like 8 times the RDA) on a daily basis for years but in general going over your limit now and then is nothing to worry about.

I set my protein to 40%.
With the other settings as: 40% carbs and 20% fat.

If you have too much protein it is fine...especially if you are trying to build muscle...this is the muscles preffered "meal" so in order to increase muscle and even build new muscle, which in turn will help you loose even more weight, you need the extra protein. Just make sure your protein is lean, I prefer to actually get alot of my protein from low fat dairy...it is a very cheap protein. Also remember if after you workout (within 30mins) to have a glass of milk...chock full of protein and it will feed your muscles. Hope this helps0

30-40% is fine if you a working out regularly, protein is the least likely substance to be stored as fat but it is still possible.0

Recommended for weight loss is 20-30%. Beef is very high in protein so that's why you went over. It sounds like you're set at MFP's automatic settings, which I think is 15%. Go to dietitian.com/calcbody.php and put in all your info. What it spits out for recommendations is pretty accurate. I use it and I lose fine when I follow it and I feel good, have enough energy, etc. as long as they're good carbs, protein, fat, sugar, etc.0
