fast weightloss

I've heard it and read it a thousand times, that fast weight loss cannot be sustained. I started a 1200 calorie diet 8 days ago, and pretty much eliminated the glasses of wine that I used to drink each night. I've eaten pretty healthy and I feel great. But I've lost 5.5lbs. in that time.
Should I add in more calories? My sw was 153.5, my goal weight is 138.

Read this. Evaluate your present plan. Remember that during the first weeks of a calorie deficit, you lose quite quickly as it's mostly water weight. I think there is room for improvement in your plan - IF you are at all concerned about maintaining a healthy body.

You only have 9.5 lbs. to go. Set your goal to .5 lb. per week (which is way more than 1,200 calories), and be patient.
A healthy loss is .5–2 lb. per week. The closer you get to goal, the more slowly you lose. That's just the way the human body works. Your initial 5.5 loss was mostly water & glycogen.0
