I beat my 2 km running time!

I started running last year and I have this route that I measured to be exactly 2 kilometers. I use it to track my running ability. When I started it took me about 12 and a half minute to complete. Every few months I measured again, gradually improving my time, and yesterday I beat my record again! My time was 07:47:80 - an average speed of 15.4 km/h. :)

I am so happy that I can do this now. A year ago I was 15 kg heavier and didn't even want to think about running! I started by walking and only after a couple of months did I do my first run.

Will lose another 10 kg and will keep training. I wonder what's possible!

Becoming fit means a lot to me. I love being active which just keeps becoming more enjoyable!

Did you recently beat a fitness record? What are your goals? What does being/getting fit mean to you?

Wow, very speedy, well done! I've been running for years, but slow and heavy. I once ran a 10-minute mile - my goal is to run three in a row in a 5K race!

Thanks, I am happy that after half a decade of relative inactivity (and smoking - I quit now) my body is still able to become strong again. I think we easily underestimate our own physical abilities - I guess that's in part because we live in a time of comfort where we don't have to rely on our physical abilities very much, most work is mental, so we get out of touch with our bodies. Takes work to reverse that but apparently t's worth the effort.

Also well done to you! 5K, good goal! I'm sure that you can do it!
