Polar F6 HRM battery is dying... replace it yourself?

I LOVE my Polar F6. But the screen is getting dim and it's not always accurate. I think it needs a new battery. A quick MFP and Google search educated me to the fact that I need to SEND it to Polar to get a new battery??? Can this be true? The cost to replacement could run a bit high from my research...

Has anyone tried to replace the battery on their own?

I'm thinking to upgrade to the latest Polar may be the next option...

yes, i replaced mine myself - i have polar ft4- it took me seconds and cost me around $7.

Not sure about the F6, but I just changed the batteries in my FT4 and chest strap, and they were easy peasy!

The worst that can happen is I destroy it and have to get a new one anyway!

I have also replaced the battery on my hubbies Braun shaver (which was supposedly not replaceable).

I order my HRM batteries on line. I got 25 batteries for $6 cor the CR2016.

According to the manual you need the CR 2032

here is 5 for $3

Thanks for posting this! I have an F6 and checked yesterday about battery replacement and since it's old was seriously thinking of doing it myself. Searched the forums to see if there were any postings on this, and voila! Last time I sent it in. Are the CR2016 and CR2032 interchangeable? Which did you use?
