College student trying to lose weight

Alright, my name is Syd, I'm 19 years old, freshman in college. Undecided on my major. In the past, I have made weight loss goals and never kept them. I was always a bit on the "chubbier" side, but it was never to the point of me being uncomfortable. But, since I've gotten to college, I've gained not the freshman 15, but more like the freshman 40. So now, I'm hoping to lose that 40 lbs, or maybe up to 50 or 60.
Is there any other college kids out there that can give me some tips, or motivation ideas?
