This is too easy or I'm doing something wrong?

Every time I've started this journey before I have given up pretty soon. And struggled every single day of that journey.
But this time, it hasn't felt that way at all. The other half buys himself some doughnuts to munch on, I buy myself some strawberries, he has a burger at the pub, I have a steak and salad. The choices have been really easy for me, and I have never ever known this happen before. It's always been a chore, hard work, a struggle. And this time, it all feels so easy, so obvious. I don't know if now is my time. This is the mind set I've been waiting for. Or whether I am secretly messing up somewhere. Am I sure I'm weighing everything right, are my portions too big, is the nutrition content correct?
I only weight myself once a week, and that day is a Saturday, so I don't know how well I've done this week, but I haven't felt like I'm suffering at all, does this mean I'm doing something wrong? Or am I finally doing something right?

lol keep logging/tracking and enjoy the ride! Its not really "hard" to lose weight once you start eating at a deficit! Its just that initial confusion to get the numbers right! Enjoy it!0

I was 100% committed and on board when I started and it was actually easy too. But then your motivation and willpower begins to wane and it's much harder, especially as you get closer to your goal weight. It's much harder to say no now that I am 15 lbs below the 'overweight' line.

LOL. I feel the same way this time. In the past when I've tried to eat healthier and less I would be starving all day long! This time I'm able to do it no problem. And it's been almost 2 months I've been eating better and taking care of myself. It must just be the right time.0

Maybe you've figured out that making better choices doesn't have to be a bad thing? Steak & salad are good. (And usually don't have the icky after effects of the greasy pub burger.) Fruit is great. The things you are doing are likely generating a good, natural energy and you need/want to keep that going.0

I think part of it is mindset. When I wasn't really ready or wasn't doing it for myself, it felt like a real struggle. But this time it's all about me, my health, my fitness, my goals, my pace.
Also in the past I would try the traditional diet thing and starve myself and/or deprive myself of the foods I loved so it felt like torture. This time I'm still eating what I like but in smaller portions, healthier versions and treating myself now and then so it hasn't been that difficult. It takes a bit longer but I've stuck with it and that thrills me to no end!

The biggest mistake I see people make with dieting is to assume that it MUST be hard to be effective so they artificially and unneccesarily make their routinues difficult and then of course eventually flame-out and quit.
No, it doesn't have to be hard. Simple substitutions like the ones you describe in your post plus going for a walk now and again when before you were just sedentary is really all it takes.0 -
I feel the exact same way!!!! I was literally just wondering out loud if maybe I am not counting the calories right, or that there is no way I am burning that many calories working out.. it seems very odd that this time around (probably my 10th time trying to control my weight) that it's just not that hard.... which seems odd. I have stopped and started my fitness pal about three times and I am only into this about ten days.. so I am wonder if I will start to wear out soon.. but I hope not and I hope that the scale reflects what I am hoping it should.. I am not quite ready to weigh myself. I can accept responsibility for what I eat each day, but not sure I am ready to see how bad I let it get before restarting myfitnesspal.. so we'll see. No, you're not alone. I have some days where I really want a Blizzard or five Cadburry eggs, but MFP allows me to know EXACTLY how much I (need to) put into my body. For me, it was just cutting back portion sizes and unnecessary snacking, plus becoming more active, which I very much enjoy.

I'd say that you are finally doing it right! Just keep going as you are and monitor your progress. If you aren't losing for a while you might need to adjust your intake/activity level. I know it might seem like you have a long way to go and at times you might not feel so positive, but you've already lost 1/10 of your goal. And it was easy. That's awesome!0

It is only as hard as you make it. I see way too many people who think it has to be extreme to be effective, and then they quit because it isn't sustainable. You're right - there's no need to be hungry all the time, using magic potions and pills, working out 6 hours a day. Good luck! Sounds like you've got this!0

I feel the same way! In my previous attempts at losing weight I always had the all our nothing mentality. My diet had to be perfect and I had to exercise x amount of times a week. It's no surprise that I would quickly get burned out and quit.
I'm so happy that about a month ago a friend recommended MFP! I actually feel confident this time because I have been given the proper tools. With just tracking my calories, (23 day streak) I'm down 7lbs! I'm making better food choices and it finally clicked in my head that the yummy not so good for me food isn't off limits. I can enjoy that slice of pizza now and again as long as I log it down and still lose weight. Only took me a few years to figure it out but better late than never!

I feel that way too! I think my problem was if I had a "bad" food day, I'd just get mad at myself and give up. Now if I do that, I tell myself that tomorrow is another day and I keep persevering.0
