Hey guys, I know this is off topic from weight loss, but I was just wondering if anyone knew of an herb or supplement that helps with memory and concentration? I am in school and am really easily distracted, but do not have ADD. I thought I'd see if any of yall knew of anything besides caffeine? Thanks!

I have terrible concentration problems...be glad to hear what others say. I think I've developed ADD in adulthood.

Ginkogo biloba Is supposed to help but I am not sure if it really works.

**I agree with the poster below me, definitely ask your doctor before you take anything.

I wouldn't feel good suggesting any herb or supplement. Just because it's an "herb" or "over the counter" doesn't mean it's good for you or harmless.

I would suggest asking your doctor a question like this.

Vitamin B (complex - I'm not sure exactly which one!).

This is the same nutrient that women are deficient in during pregnancy and causes those feelings of "spacey" and may even contribute to the fainting spells some are prone to.

Other normal things that can affect memory:
    sleep
    anxiety
    general nutrition

And it may warrant consideration that you're just not interested in the subject matter. I'm in grad school and I find teh classes that require the least (which is almost all of them), the less attentive I am. Large lecture hall classes are the worst because of the lack of student participation and engagement doesn't give you much reason to stay alert. Some of the issue may strictly be will-power. Making yourself focus on something tedious, boring or just not in your interest area just because it's what you're there to do. If that's the case, there's no pill, drink or easy answer.

    good luck!
