I am down to the final 5 lbs!! Im thinking mid May Im going to be ready to tone down on the cardio and up the strength training! I am clueless tho!!!! I have never lifted weights except at physical therapy for a bad shoulder (slips out of socket and grinds) I also don't really know how to change my diet. Right now I am eating 1200 calories a day which every one seems to say is low but I have a desk job and it seem to do the trick for me. I eat back some of my work out calories too. I really just have no idea where to start. Any advise would be very helpful. Please and thank you :)

Good luck. And I would say, why wait until mid may? Start it now :)

Why wait? You should have started at the beginning. Another month isn't going to help, only hurt.

Why mid may? Start now! And you should set MFP to lose 0.5lb per week with 5lb to lose...

Strength training is great. The stronger you are, the better you'll feel. I've been strength training more and more, and if anything I lost more weight as I upped my strength training and somewhat reduced my cardio. My metabolism is better than it's been since I was youngster. I would have lost more weight if I hadn't upped my calorie intake. The idea is to burn fat, not muscle. So, start slow with strength training and build. The more muscle you have, the better your metabolism. Plan to only lose about a half a pound a week so you don't burn muscle.

Good luck, and great job so far!

Yes, start now. Change your settings in MFP to lose a half pound a week.

Not mid-May. NOW. My only regret about lifting heavy was that I didn't start three years ago.
