Ugh!!! Help, I have an underactive thyroid...

It's not a pretty picture for someone like me. It's bad enough that I have to take a cocktail of meds just for epilepsy, but I found out a couple of days ago that I have an underactive thyroid, or the technical term, hypothyroidism. First time it ever showed up in my blood tests. High LDL, yeah that's happened on a multitude of occasions, this time included, and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with something for that, too, my Dad takes Lipitor for it as does one of my uncles (his brother) but this? Since fall hit I've been sluggish, and it's amazing if I get two days in a row of energy in this body of mine. What I want to know is, is there anyone out there who has this problem (just the underactive thyroid) and if so, how do you deal with it, meds, diet or both?

MFP has a Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/770-hypothyroidism-and-hyperthyroidism
There is no diet to treat hypothyroidism. Take your meds.
I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease) and take Synthroid & Cytomel. I lost way more slowly than most MFPers, so be patient. But I did it just like everybody else—by eating at a deficit.
