Will I reach my goal?

Hello! I am going to Korea this September to visit my husband's family and I want to be in shape when I meet them (after we got married, I definitely gained some happy pounds haha). I went up from 140-160 within a span of a year. I am 5'6" and I just recently started dieting and exercising to reach my goal.

I would like to lose 30 pounds (I don't really care about losing all of those 30 pounds by September, but I would at least like to lose 20 pounds by that time).

I work 3-4 days a week at a job where I am up on my feet all day and walking back and forth. I walk to my college 5 days a week and it's about a 20-30 minute walk there and back, so roughly an hour of walking per day (and it's an uphill walk). And then I also run 25-30 minutes daily at a speed of 5-5.5 mph (I run on the treadmill).

How much weight is possible to lose with my activity currently? I am also incorporating a healthy diet as well. I typically eat around 1,300-1,500 calories a day.

I used to be 160lbs a few years back and I ran for just 10-15 minutes a day and ate a little lighter and I dropped to 140 but it took about a year. Now that I've gained that weight back, I'm trying to exercise more intensely, but I just want to make sure I'm doing enough to see results a bit quicker than within a year!

Thank you for any helpful advice! ^^

Oh, I forgot to add that I do weights every other day as well. I know weight training is important too!

You should be able to drop 20 lbs in 20 weeks. But don't get too wrapped up in it. You'll be healthier than where you are now, no matter what. Best of luck.

YES! But concentrate on diet for weight. Exercise if vital for health and it will allow you to look and feel better. But if you are watching the scale, study after study says it revolves around food. Keep up the weights, keep up the walking. If more intense workouts make you hungry then cut back a little on the working out and focus more on the correct foods.

As long as you stick to your nutritional goals, you should be able to make great progress on your goal by September. Keep hitting the weights too. Heavy resistance days are great for weight loss.
