Hey'all! A friend of mine pointed me in this direction after I spent an entire afternoon eating cookie dough ice cream while depressed over my weight She has lost 40 pounds, and looks great!
I used to be about 140 pounds...and then I had kids. I am now just over 200 pounds, and I hate it! I have started hating myself, and my body, and I find myself shopping for frumpy unattractive clothing. My mom tells me I am fat all the time, and it really gets me down. If anyone on here has any suggestions for foods to try, or excerises that are easy to do, and I can do with my kids, please share.
Thank you so much!

Welcome to MFP! I hope you find it as helpful as I have so far. I'm a working mom and I also gained tons of weight after my kid - except he's now 8 years old and I weigh more now than I did 9 months pregnant! Check out the recipes on the message boards for great healthy ideas. Some easy things to do with the meals you already make are to substitute whole grain pastas and breads instead of white, use leaner cuts of meat, and use less oil.
My best advice for this site is to log EVERYTHING you eat and drink - it takes a couple of weeks to get the hang of it, but the rewards are totally worth it and I know that I, personally, have become much more aware of portion sizes since I started tracking my food.
You burn calories doing all kinds of things, including playing catch, frisbee, etc. - so just get out there and move with your kids! I also go on walks after I put my son to bed while my husband is watching TV or working on homework.0 -
Hey and welcome to MFP. I can relate to hating myself and my body . For years, I did nothing about it but "wish" I would loose weight, "wish" I would exercise, "wish" I felt better about myself. Finally, I said to myself "no one can do anything about it but you so do something about it and quit wishing." I've lost 17 lbs in 9 weeks and ya know what, it hasn't killed me, I haven't starved to death and I actually feel so much better.
This site is full of information. Just search the message boards for foods, recipes, exercises... anything. It's all here.
Good luck and congratulations for making the decision to get healthy.0 -
