Pushups becoming harder?

I've been getting better at pushups for the last week making slow but steady process. I went from not being able to do a full push up with my chest close to the ground to being able to do upto 10. However, since yesterday, I've been finding them hard to do. 2-3 pushups require a lot of hard work and my arms just collapse after that. I haven't been gaining weight, I've been losing it. I've also been doing pushups everyday so it's not like it's because I haven't done them in a while. Is this normal?

Here's what I did. Begin with doing as many push ups you can do in 2 minutes. Do this three times a week. Don't do them super fast or slow, just a moderate pace. It really works. Yesterday I did 3 separate positions (standard, v-shaped, and hands spread out wide) and have worked my way up to over 5 minutes of push ups for each position, which was almost 600. Tomorrow is my 55th birthday will incorporate plank push ups (they're killers). If I have the energy afterwards I do 2 eight minute plank workouts for strength. It works.

Give yourself a break for a day or two. Working the same muscles every day takes it's toll and they need time to repair, especially when you're starting off working that area. Try to cycle through muscle groups when you exercise so that you're working one area while another is repairing
