Adding Strength to my Running Schedule

Hi Everyone!
I have been exercising regularly for about 3 years now. I have recently taken off from Turbo Fire to do some more running. I am looking for something else to add to my workout during the week. Possibly a some sort of core workout or strength training. I do have access to a gym but honestly I don't know what to do there and there are no trainers to help me out.
Some quick info:
I run or do intervals of walking/running at least 5 days a week. Once in awhile I will go for a walk.
I have done insanity in the past with very bad results, it may have been my fault for not eating enough.
My main problem area is my stomach, I feel like I have the "inner tube" I cannot get rid of around my waist.
I do have the Turbo Fire DVD's. I didnt know if even doing the Core Video 2 days a week and then the Sculpt and Tone DVD's would help!
I am open to suggestions!
Thanks!

I use kettlebells to supplement my running. They offer a pretty much full body workout and definitely work your core. There are a lot of websites that offer different moves that can be done using them. I believe there is a blog on MFP that addresses their use as well... if I can figure out how to find that, I will add the link

It looks like she left out the obvious, kettlebell swing, but it does show some options of how to use a kettlebell and add some variety to a workout routine..0
