BMR plus exercise?

I have been so wishy washy on my calorie goals. I just can't decide. Is BMR + exercise cals a pretty logical way to go about it?
I have about 30-40 pounds left to lose, if that matters.
My BMR is 1565. I would just use TDEE -20% but it seems high for a daily goal and my exercise varies from day to day. I like the idea of eating BMR on days when I don't exercise much and eating more when I workout. If that makes sense?
Any thoughts?

Yes, I think you should read this link. It may help answer your specific questions about weight loss and how to go about it in a healthy manner.

I guess that depends on what those numbers are. There's nothing wrong with eating more on exercise days than on non-exercise days, and in fact many people find that helpful. I recommended the same to someone who had less to lose. But if TDEE - 20% is very far away from your BMR, I have to wonder what the deficit will look like and I am hesitant to recommend you attempt to lose weight too quickly.0

Depending on how I calculate exercise, tdee - 20% is 1800-1950 calories for me.0
