Hey guys in just over 6 weeks... I will be going out of town for a week or two. My daughter will be having her 34th surgery...
I will be in a hotel in Boston, MA. No microwave no stove.
The hotel we will be staying is the BW @ Longwood. Which has a foodcourt on the second level that has the following:
McDonald's
Home of the "Big Mac" and other favorites.
Subway
The world's largest submarine sandwich franchise; offering healthy alternatives.
Dunkin Donuts
All your favorite donuts, muffins and bagels plus hot and iced coffee drinks.
Cajun & Grill
Louisian-style sweet and spicy fare - try our Bourbon Chicken!
Beantown Burrito
Fresh, all natural ingredients make our burrittos healthy, low fat nutritious and delicious.
Dairy Queen/Orange Julius
Features great food, various dairy desserts, and blended drinks.
Mr. Chan's
Chinese take-out restaurant featuring specials every day.
Red Barn Coffee
High quality great tasting coffee drinks using the finest beans from around the world.
Just to name a few....
Along with the hotel restaurant ...
Anyone have suggestions or ideas?

See if you can find a nutrition thing on each place. I know subway is healthy...but you would just have to see what the nutritional values at the other places are. I was shocked when I got Chinese one day that it wasn't as many calories as I thought it would be, so you could be surprised.0

If you do the chinese, ask if they can cook whatever you want in a white sauce. Brown sauces are made with sugar, white sauce is a healthier alternative.0

At McD's, a side salad and grilled chix sandwich with no mayo and no bun isn't bad. Subway is generally good and their breakfast sandwiches are very low cal and good. I like the western english muffin with egg white and I add some spinach after it is toasted. I would also recommend going to each restaurant's website to download their nutritional info if available. In the hotel restaurant, I would stick with seafood and chicken without sauces. I hope the surgery goes well. Safe travels.0

I used to travel a lot with my job and managed to lose 40 pounds. If I was staying in a hotel for more than a couple days, I would rent a refridgerator (if one wasn't provided in the hotel). Then I would get breakfast food (usually cereal/milk) and snacks (fruit, peanut butter & crackers). If it was possible with my work schedule I would even get lunch meats so I could make sandwiches. This helped me not only save money, but also save calories and fat grams. I also made it a priority to run at least 4 times a week. Good luck!0

Starbucks seems to be everywhere... is there one nearby? if so, they have oatmeal and also their yogurt parfaits with granola are pretty healthy (as far as buying prepared food). Depending on whether you add toppings or not to oatmeal, oatmeal itself is 140 cals, both nuts topping and dried fruit is 100 cals each... I don't recommend adding sugar, it comes sweetened already... The yogurt parfaits with granola are about 310 cals.
McDonald's has yogurt and apples and nuts snack. Subway is pretty good, too if you choose one of their healthier options.
(Not familiar with other restaurants; some food could be healthy-ish, but watch for sodium, too, it can get pretty high; even so, if you are doing this just for one week, I think you will be ok).
Sorry to hear your daughter needs surgery Speedy recovery to her!0 -
Subway isnt so bad if you only get a half sandwich, one one of their lighter breads (btw DONT get a wrap from them, they may be low carb but they're super high in calories!)
this site has alot of calorie calculators for different chain restaurants: http://www.eddieoneverything.com/nutrition_info/calculators
it might have most of those places.
good luck to you and speedy recovery to your daughter, i hope all is well.0 -
At McDonalds, no fries, just order a grilled chicken sandwich, no mayo or cheese. Be sure not to DRINK your calories! so water or diet soda if need be!
At Dunkin Donuts, make sure you get your coffee with skim milk or whole milk, not cream. Use splenda and beware of their baked goodies! Muffins are terrible - upwards of 600 calories for some of those! If they have french rolls, those run about 180 calories, and are delicious toasted with reduced fat cream cheese. Otherwise, your best bet is a wakeup wrap, no meat!
Subway can be good - just beware of mayo and cheese and sauces!
Good Luck!!0
